#2 – Have an effective SEO strategy
Many website owners say they do SEO, but many of them don’t do it genuinely?
When it comes to search engine optimization, the “O” means just what it says, optimization, and is vital to the success of your website rankings.
If you’re serious about ranking on the 1st. pages of the top search engines, the “O” in SEO needs your undivided attention. What do I mean by undivided attention? Making sure you have covered all bases of building your site correctly, and taking advantage of optimizing it effectively, and efficiently.
SEO to your website; is as an engine is to your vehicle.
In other words, a car without an engine will get you nowhere…a website without SEO won’t get you ranked high on the search engines, here’s what I mean.
Having keywords in your page title just isn’t enough. Here are a few particularly important SEO factors to keep in mind when optimizing your site:
- Keywords in H1, page titles, headings, and throughout your page description, are very important
- Listed on directory listing such as DMOZ or Yahoo.
- Having backlinks to your site, (including .edu & .gov) websites.
Here’s why. Let’s say you found a major competitor ranking well on the search engines; however, upon your research, you discover they are not taking advantage of two of the three mentioned factors above, then you’ve just found a weakness that you can exploit and outrank your competition.
While search engine optimization may be taken lightly by most online business, you can put yourself in a great position by taking the time optimize your site, without leaving out the “O”.
This also works both ways. Up and coming new sites will be researching their competitors, and when they come across your site, if you’re leaving the “O” out of search engine optimization, you’ll find yourself being out-ranked by up and coming businesses.
